Port aux Rocs is a bathing beach located in Le Croisic, Loire-Atlantique, in the Pays de la Loire region. The site is a type 1 bathing profile, indicating no proven risk of water pollution. The beach has been classified as having excellent water quality consistently from 1999 through 2014 under both the 1976 and 2006 EU bathing water directives. Average daily attendance during the bathing season is 70 to 200 visitors.

Location

Le Croisic is located in Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire region, in western France. The site is part of the Cap Atlantique inter-municipal authority which groups 15 communes between the Loire and Vilaine rivers. The municipality has a population of 4,156 inhabitants.

Water Quality

Water quality classification under Directive 76/160/CEE: 10A (good quality) for years 2011-2014. Water quality classification under Directive 2006/7/CE: Excellent for all periods (1999-2002, 2003-2006, 2007-2010, 2011-2014). No pollution episodes recorded during recent years. Type 1 profile confirms no proven risk of water pollution.

Risks

Storm water discharge identified as a potential source of pollution with weak impact. Rapid alteration of water quality is possible from pollutants in storm water networks that discharge directly into the natural environment.
