Water Quality

Water quality monitoring has been conducted by ARS 56. Bacteriological quality of bathing waters at Brouel beach has been assessed. Chlorophyll a concentration monitoring occurred from 2011 to 2014. Shellfish farming areas in the gulf are classified as zone A for non-burrowing bivalves and zone B for burrowing bivalves on Île d'Arz coasts.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include collective wastewater systems, rainwater drainage networks, individual (non-collective) wastewater treatment systems, and accidental or point-source contamination. Macro-algae and phytoplankton proliferation potential has been assessed.
