Praia do Forte da Barra sits along the Ria, near the fort from which it takes its name, where river and ocean waters meet. Access is difficult, and at low tide visitors can cross the Ria on foot to reach its wide stretch of sand. The water is shallow near shore with regular boat traffic passing through the area.
