Praia Grande Poente is a coastal bathing beach in Silves with restricted use associated with sensitive natural systems. It features a wide expanse of golden sand with dunes and typical flora. A wetland formed by the Alcantarilha watercourse mouth lies to the west. The beach front extends 236 metres with a tidal range of 3.4 metres and mean wave height of 0.5 metres. Prevailing winds are from the northwest.
