Pramousquier is a natural beach bathing site in the commune of Le Lavandou on the Mediterranean coast. The site achieved an excellent water quality classification in the 2022 monitoring season according to European Directive 2006 standards. The beach experiences approximately 700 users per day during summer months. Water temperature reaches a maximum of 26°C in summer. The bathing zone is subject to monitoring and management protocols to maintain water quality standards.

Location

Le Lavandou commune, Mediterranean coast. Parking is located 50 metres from the bathing zone. Numerous restaurants and other infrastructure are situated 10 metres from the bathing area.

Facilities

Public information displays are present. Quality management signage installed. Crisis response protocol activated during adverse weather events.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT (2022 season) and CONFORME according to European Directive 2006. Monitoring includes bacteriological testing and quality audits. Potential pollution sources identified include sewage treatment overflow, storm water runoff, agricultural runoff, boat mooring zone, and user activity.

Risks

Storm surge risks from sewage treatment plant overflow can cause faecal matter pollution lasting several days. Storm water drainage from the basin can transport pesticides, fertilisers, and road pollutants (hydrocarbons, mineral oils, surfactants) for up to 72 hours. Boat mooring zone presents momentary pollution risk from faecal matter and hydrocarbures. Phytoplankton proliferation risk (Ostreopsis, Dinophysis, Prorocentum) due to organic pollution from nearby treatment plant. No risk of macro algae or cyanobacteria proliferation identified.
