Revgaard Strand is a 115-meter-long beach located at the southern end of Rødvig in Stevns Municipality, facing Faxe Bay. The beach is composed primarily of small to medium-sized stones with areas of fine sand, and the seabed extends gradually from fine sand to stones. It is situated in green surroundings near a small boat harbor, with tables and benches provided for visitors. The water is classified as brackish. The bathing water was classified as Excellent quality for 2022 based on monitoring data from 2018-2021.

Water

Brackish water in Faxe Bay. Water depth increases gradually from less than 2 meters approximately 160 meters from the shore to 6 meters after an additional 200 meters. The beach is 115 meters long and 5-10 meters wide. The seabed consists primarily of fine sand with larger sections of small and medium-sized stones.

Location

Rødvig, a small town in the southern part of Stevns Municipality, Denmark. The beach is located at the southern end of the town, facing Faxe Bay. UTM coordinates: Zone 33, UtmX 332294, UtmY 6125510.

Tables and benches for visitors. Rescue ring available (indicated on overview map). Lifeguard information not specified.

Season

1 June to 1 September. Routine water quality monitoring is conducted during this period.

Water Quality

Bathing water classification for 2022: Excellent quality. Classification is based on routine monitoring for faecal indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) conducted during the bathing season. Within the defined beach boundary, stream influences on water quality are minimal and there is no health risk associated with swimming.

Risks

Risk of sudden pollution from vessel accidents, manure tanks, and sewage leaks. A black plastic pipe on the beach (north of ramp) discharges surface/rainwater containing faecal bacteria risk during heavy rain; swimming near this outlet is discouraged. Two streams (Smederenden and Skørpingerenden) located 550 and 850 meters north of the beach respectively carry faecal bacteria risk during certain periods. Risk of seaweed (macroalgae) wash-up at the water's edge; swimming near large seaweed accumulations is discouraged. Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms and phytoplankton blooms. Glass shards and litter may occur. Very low risk of chemical pollution.
