Rødvig Vest is a 450-meter-long beach consisting of fine sand with scattered small stones, located east of southern Rødvig in Denmark. The beach is 5 to 50 meters wide and backed by a developed area separated from the shore by a green zone. Access to the beach is provided by small paths and stairs distributed along its length. The water body is classified as brackish water in Faxe Bay, with water depth rising gradually and reaching under 2 meters approximately 100 to 150 meters from shore.

Brackish water in Faxe Bay. Water depth rises gradually and is under 2 meters approximately 100 to 150 meters from shore. The seabed consists of fine sand with larger stones in some places. Current direction is variable, primarily from the west.

East of the southern part of Rødvig, Denmark. Parking is available at the northeastern end of the beach. Access to the beach is via small paths and stairs distributed along the entire stretch.

Water Quality

The bathing water at Rødvig Vest was classified as 'Excellent' in 2022. Classification is based on routine monitoring samples collected regularly from June 1 to September 1 each year, analyzed for faecal indicator bacteria E. coli and enterococci. The classification is revised annually before the bathing season begins.

Risks

Two watercourse outlets present fæcal contamination risks: Skørpingerenden at the northern end (outlet extended by 40 meters during sand nourishment) and Mejerirenden at the southern end (piped outlet a few meters from shore). Both watercourses can periodically contain high concentrations of faecal bacteria; swimming is discouraged at and around these outlets. Risk of sudden contamination from accidents involving pleasure boats, slurry tanks, and sewer lines. Low risk of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) blooms. Low risk of phytoplankton blooms. Risk of macroalgae (seaweed) washing ashore at the water's edge. Very low risk of chemical contamination. Glass shards and litter can occur.
