Rødvig Øst

Rødvig Øst is a pleasant beach located in the eastern part of Rødvig near the harbour, stretching 220 metres in length and 10 to 15 metres in width. The beach comprises coarse sand and stones continuing into the water, with a bathing pier leading to fine sand at its end. The coast faces Faxe Bay with an east-west orientation. The water is classified as brackish.

Water

Brackish water in Faxe Bay. Water depth is less than 2 metres for approximately 100 metres from shore. Current direction is variable but primarily from the west.

Location

Rødvig Øst is in the eastern end of Rødvig, near the pleasure boat harbour. Good parking is available close to the harbour approximately 200 metres west of the bathing pier.

Facilities

Bathing pier, rescue ring, waste bins, warning sign system for deteriorated water quality (electronic sign with red and green lights), lifeguard facilities indicated on overview map.

Season

Routine monitoring occurs during the bathing season. Classification is revised each year in May.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2022: Excellent. Classification is based on routine sampling of indicator bacteria (E. coli and enterococci) during the bathing season 2018-2021. Classification is revised annually before the start of the bathing season.

Risks

Risk of deteriorated water quality during heavy rainfall when Lejdebækken stream capacity is exceeded and it overflows onto the beach. Low risk of cyanobacteria bloom. Low risk of phytoplankton bloom. Risk of washed-up macroalgae (seaweed) in the water's edge. Glass shards and litter may occur. Risk of chemical pollution is very low.
