Water

The Río Ara at Boltaña is a mountain stream in the Ebro river basin, Cinca sub-basin. The water body is approximately 28 metres wide during high water levels and 15 metres during low water levels, with maximum depth of 2 metres. The riverbed contains rocky blocks and boulders in the centre, with gravel and stone deposits along the margins. Average environmental flow is 1.516 cubic metres per second. The four-year return period flow is 34 cubic metres per second. Mean annual precipitation in the influence area is 1,004 millimetres. The area altitude is 589 metres.

Boltaña, Huesca province, Aragón, Spain. The bathing area is accessed directly from the town of Boltaña, positioned immediately next to the N-260 national road. No parking is available at the site.

Facilities

Informational signs are present. Waste containers are available. No parking, lifeguard post, toilets, showers, bar, merendero, waste bins, boat launch, recreational zone, or fountains. Domestic animal access status unknown.

Season

July and August. Official dates for 2011 were 3 July to 27 August.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2010-2011 showed excellent quality according to Royal Decree 1341/2007. Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci concentrations remained within acceptable limits throughout the monitoring period (2010-2011). No data on ecological status is available.
