Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2021–2022–2023). Monitoring authority: Regione Campania – Direzione Generale per la Tutela della Salute ed il Coordinamento del Sistema Sanitario Regionale. The bathing water is affected by the Savone Torrent estuary, which receives wastewater from municipal sewage networks (some treated, some untreated) from Mondragone, Falciano del Massico, Carinola, Francolise, Teano, and Roccamonfina. A biological treatment plant with activated sludge serves Mondragone and discharges treated effluent via submarine pipeline.

Risks

The Savone Torrent estuary receives treated and untreated wastewater from multiple municipalities and untreated sewage networks. A storm overflow is located at the Savone River estuary mouth.
