Potential pollution sources include river mouths, torrents (Madonna dell'Aiuto and Valle dei Trovai), a municipal mixed-water conveyance system with emergency spillways, a consortium collector, stormwater discharge pipes, and the Peschiera del Garda wastewater treatment plant discharging into the Mincio River in Lombardy.
