Scanno – punto B is a bathing water area located on the Scanno di Goro sandbar, a natural barrier extending approximately 8 km from the mouth of the Po River toward Lido di Volano. The site is part of the Po Delta Park and is a natural area undergoing significant evolution, characterized by dunes with vegetation and lagoon areas. The beach has no coastal defense structures and is advancing rather than eroding.

Water

Coastal marine water body classified as alluvial plain with high stability. Beach width: 80–100 meters. The area is part of a sandy barrier (litoranea freccia) with no river inputs or direct discharges into the profiled bathing waters.

Location

Goro municipality, Ferrara province, Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. Coordinates: 12.3709° E, 44.7833° N. The bathing area extends approximately 3.051 km along the coast.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 28 CFU/100 ml; E. coli (95th percentile): 34 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci (90th percentile): 15 CFU/100 ml; enterococci (95th percentile): 17 CFU/100 ml. No direct pollution sources are present in the bathing area. The mouth of the Po River di Goro is located approximately 1 km north and represents a pressure factor.

Risks

The mouth of the Po River di Goro, located approximately 1 km north, may cause eutrophication phenomena. Macroalgae (genus Ulva) proliferation occurred in July–August 2018 in the central-northern coastal stretch, causing modifications to beach use during biomass accumulation. No cyanobacterial eutrophic phenomena have been reported. No phytoplankton toxic effects have been recorded.
