Scanno – punto C is a bathing water area located on the Scanno di Goro sandbar, a natural barrier extending approximately 8 km from the mouth of the Po River at Goro towards Lido di Volano. The site is part of the Po Delta park and is characterized by evolving natural features including dunes with vegetation and lagoon areas. The beach has no coastal defence structures and is advancing rather than eroding. The area has low visitor numbers and no bathing establishments or services.

Water

Coastal marine water within the Northern Coastal Area (CD1). Beach width: 80–100 metres. The water body is part of a high-stability alluvial plain classification.

Location

Goro, Ferrara Province, Emilia-Romagna region. Coordinates: centre at 12.3369°E, 44.7855°N. The area extends approximately 2.713 km along the coast.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli: 22 at 90th percentile, 26 at 95th percentile. Intestinal enterococci: 39 at 90th percentile, 54 at 95th percentile. No direct discharge points or pollution sources within the bathing area. The Sacca di Goro inlet to the west, where the Po di Volano and Canal Bianco converge, is a pressure factor that may cause eutrophication phenomena.

Risks

Potential for eutrophication phenomena due to the Sacca di Goro inlet to the west. Macroalgal proliferation of Ulva genus observed in July–August 2018 in the central-northern stretch of coast. No sustained cyanobacterial eutrophic phenomena have been reported. Phytoplankton blooms of Raphidophyceae (Fibrocapsa japonica) have not been recorded during 2015–2018.
