Scanno - punto A is a bathing water site located 100 metres west of the right dyke of Po di Goro, within the Scanno di Goro sandy barrier that extends approximately 8 kilometres from the Po di Goro mouth towards Lido di Volano. The site is part of the Po Delta park and represents a naturally evolving area characterised by dunes with vegetation and lagoon zones. The right bank of the Po di Goro mouth is protected by a rock structure extending about 60 metres seaward, and a rock breakwater and wall are present near the Goro lighthouse.

Goro, Ferrara Province, Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. Located within the Po Delta park. Access includes a bar and restaurant at a construction near the Goro lighthouse.

Facilities

A bar and restaurant are located near the Goro lighthouse. No beach establishments are present in the area. Animal access is regulated by regional bathing ordinances and any municipal ordinances.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (reference years 2021–2024). Escherichia coli (90th percentile): 121 CFU/100 mL; Escherichia coli (95th percentile): 186 CFU/100 mL. Intestinal enterococci (90th percentile): 78 CFU/100 mL; Intestinal enterococci (95th percentile): 114 CFU/100 mL. No direct pollution sources from wastewater treatment or direct discharges are present in the bathing water area.

Risks

The Po di Goro mouth located immediately north of the bathing area acts as a pressure factor that may cause eutrophication. During intense rainfall, overflow dischargers in sewage networks and pump stations in the terminal section of Canal Bianco and Volano river basins can release waters near the bathing area. No harmful algal blooms or phytoplankton proliferation events have been recorded in the past four years (2019–2022). No sustained eutrophic phenomena driven by cyanobacteria have ever been reported.
