Scivolo Galli is a public bathing beach located on Lake Maggiore in Meina, Piedmont. The beach is characterized by a pebbly sandy shore approximately 89 metres wide. The water has been classified as excellent based on routine sampling over the 2021-2024 period. Animal access to the beach is prohibited.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Based on 18 routine samples from 2021-2024. Escherichia coli (90th percentile: 28.4 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 43.4 MPN/100 ml). Enterococci (90th percentile: 71.4 MPN/100 ml; 95th percentile: 121.2 MPN/100 ml). The bathing water falls within the Maggiore 13 homogeneous zone and is characterized by medium-high pressure from a high density of sewer conduits. A wastewater treatment plant is located within 5 kilometres of the sampling point.

Risks

Intense precipitation may trigger overflow structures. Accidental malfunctions of pumping systems can discharge untreated wastewater into the lake. Potential pollution source: inadequate management of the sewer network. No cyanobacteria monitoring is conducted periodically. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or toxic algal blooms have been detected in the past four years.
