Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. Based on 18 routine samples collected during 2020–2023. Escherichia coli: 90th percentile 12.5 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 18.8 MPN/100 ml. Enterococci: 90th percentile 54.2 MPN/100 ml, 95th percentile 98.6 MPN/100 ml. The bathing water is located in homogeneous zone Maggiore 13, characterized by medium-high pressure class due to high density of sewage pipelines. A treatment plant is located approximately 5 km from the monitoring point.

Risks

A stream located 500 meters away could compromise water quality during heavy rainfall. Intense precipitation can trigger overflow structures, and accidental failures of lifting installations may introduce untreated sewage into the lake. Inadequate management of the sewerage network represents a possible pollution source.
