Camarana is a sandy beach with dune ridges backed by rocky promontories. The beach is 50 metres wide and extends 1.14 kilometres along the coast. The area experiences a dry subtropical climate with high summer temperatures and modest winter precipitation. The coastal zone has undergone anthropization through urbanization, with summer population increasing significantly, and contains archaeological sites.

The water body is part of the Sicily Channel (Canale di Sicilia). The bathing area covers 1.14 kilometres of coastline (tratto di costa 15) and is identified by water body code IT1908153.

Facilities

The beach is equipped with both free and staffed facilities. Animals are permitted as there are no municipal signs or ordinances prohibiting access.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is Excellent. The area is classified as Category C bathing water.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include: primary-treated wastewater discharged to sea via submarine pipeline; agricultural activities and intense urbanization; untreated urban discharges; white water discharge and flood spillways; possible malfunction of the submarine pipeline. Abundant precipitation can exceed discharge capacity and convey pollutants into bathing waters. No pollution sources are present within the bathing area itself.
