Stængehus Strand is a beautiful natural beach approximately 500 meters long and 20 meters wide, featuring sand, rounded stones, and dunes. Located away from urban areas and traffic due to its position along Tisvilde Hegn and Asserbo plantation. The eastern section of the beach is designated as a naturist area. The beach offers life-saving equipment and lifeguard presence during the bathing season.

Water

Saltwater beach (approximately 2% salinity) with a sand bottom and occasional stones. Water depth reaches 2 meters approximately 100 meters from the shore. Dominant current direction is easterly. Sand bar formation present with strong currents in the trench; westerly winds can generate waves exceeding 3 meters.

Location

Near Melby in Gribskov Municipality, Denmark. Parking available at Stængehus. Horse enclosure adjacent to the parking area.

Facilities

Toilets, accessible toilet at parking area, litter bin, garbage sorting, life-saving equipment, lifeguards during bathing season (additional lifeguards in school summer holidays 10:00–18:00). No bathing jetty.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified based on sample results from the past four years. Samples are collected during the bathing season. Low risk of cyanobacteria growth in the area, though drift from Øresund is possible. Minimal macroalgae and phytoplankton growth within 4 meters of the shoreline.
