Tisvildeleje Strand is a beach located at Tisvilde, situated at the northern edge of Tisvilde Hegn. The beach is approximately 750 metres long and 40 metres wide, and holds the Blue Flag environmental certification. Water samples are taken during the bathing season, with results available on-site and online. The beach features two lifeguard stations and a large car park.

Water

Saltwater beach with sand bottom and occasional stones. Water depth is 2 metres between 70–100 metres from the shore. Salinity is approximately 2%. The dominant current direction is easterly. Strong currents can develop when wind comes from the west or north, creating lateral currents. A strong outward current occurs at the pier due to an underwater ridge.

Location

The beach is located at Tisvilde by, at the northern part of Tisvilde Hegn. A large car park is available at the end of Hovedgaden. Disabled parking is provided at the western end of the car park.

Facilities

Lifeguards present during the bathing season and school summer holidays (10:00–18:00). Two lifeguard stations. Toilets, disabled toilet, disabled parking. Life-saving equipment and rescue ring available throughout the bathing season. Litter bins and waste sorting. Large car park. No bathing pier. Dogs not permitted in the Blue Flag zone during summer (1 April – 30 September) but permitted on other beach areas on lead during this period; dogs welcome off-lead during winter.

Season

Bathing season monitoring occurs during the official bathing season.

Water Quality

Bathing water quality is calculated based on samples taken over the previous four years. Low risk of cyanobacteria growth. Only slight macroalgae growth within 4 metres above sea level. Monitoring station number 224, DKBW number 393.

Risks

Strong outward current at the pier due to an underwater ridge, making swimming from that location inadvisable. Risk of temporary water contamination from rainwater overflow following heavy rainfall, lasting up to 2 days after the event.
