Czechia River 1 - Excellent

Stříbrné jezero is a flooded gypsum mine with good accessibility and excellent bathing water quality. The lake is extensively used for sports fishing in recent years. Water quality monitoring by the hygiene authority consistently rates it as suitable for bathing, with excellent classification for microbial contamination. Algae blooms are insignificant, with only an episode in 2008. No significant point or diffuse pollution sources are present in the catchment area.

Water

Lake (nádrž) with surface area of 6.87 hectares. The lake is fed primarily by groundwater. Elevation is 258 metres above sea level. The catchment area (povodí) covers 0.52 km². Beach length is approximately 100 metres. The beach shore is sandy and grassy; the bottom is sandy at the sandy beach and gravel and mud elsewhere.

Location

Located in the jurisdiction of the city of Opava (Horní nám. 69, 746 26 Opava). The bathing beach (Stříbrné jezero – pláž) is managed by the municipality.

Facilities

Restaurant, refreshments, shower on the beach, toilets in the restaurant, mobile changing rooms, waste removal, two volleyball courts, grass maintenance. No lifeguard or health worker present.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent. Microbiological analysis (2019–2022) based on intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli shows excellent quality. Total phosphorus concentrations generally remained at the permitted level according to Government Regulation No. 401/2015. Water transparency is consistently above the minimum limit for bathing water (>1 metre). Overall monitoring assessment: satisfactory condition.
