Bílovecký rybník (Valley of Youth) is a recreational pond located in a peaceful setting outside the city of Bílovec. The water body has been subject to long-term monitoring by the regional health authority and does not exhibit degraded water quality. Algae blooms were recorded only sporadically in 2003, 2007, and 2009. Based on microbiological monitoring, the water is classified as good quality for bathing. The pond is also used for fishing.

Water

Pond with surface area of 3.6 hectares and elevation of 265 metres. Long-term average annual discharge to the dam is 0.086 cubic metres per second. The shore is grassy and gravelly with a muddy bottom. The beach comprises partial gravel (100 metres) and grass (200 metres). The catchment area measures 15.4 square kilometres.

Small recreational area with sports and children's playground. No lifeguard or medical staff present.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is good based on microbiological indicators (intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli) evaluated over 2019–2022. Total phosphorus concentrations historically exceeded permitted levels according to regulation 401/2015; monitoring of this indicator ceased in 2012. No algae occurrence in recent years; high cyanobacterial cell concentrations were recorded at the end of the 2003 bathing season and in June 2007 and 2009. Overall assessment: satisfactory condition.

Risks

High-risk point source pollution from Bítov municipality (sewage system without treatment facility) affecting both microbiological contamination and phosphorus input. High-risk diffuse pollution from unsewered development in Tísek and the Výškovice neighbourhood of Bílovec, affecting both microbiological contamination and phosphorus input. Medium-risk diffuse pollution from unsewered local part of Výškovice in Bílovec. Elevated trophic status (nutrient richness) expected due to fish farming operations, particularly if carp species predominate.
