Tapelių ežero maudykla is a bathing area located in Vilnius, Lithuania, in a national protected landscape reserve. The lake is surrounded by forest with no agricultural activity in the area. The beach is approximately 160 meters long with predominantly sandy shoreline and occasional pebbles. The bathing area is designated for recreation and is regularly maintained during the swimming season.

Water

Tapelių lake in the Neris river subbasin (part of the Nemuno river basin). The shoreline is semi-natural with sand, grass, and sparse submerged vegetation in places.

Location

Vilniaus miesto savivaldybė (Vilnius city municipality), Vilniaus apskritis (Vilnius district), Lithuania. The bathing area is situated within the Tapelių landscape reserve.

Facilities

Facilities include a fixed pier with ladder, 2 changing cabins, rescue point with first aid equipment, bicycle racks, barbecue grills, picnic tables (2 tables with benches), accessible picnic tables for disabled persons (1 table with 1 bench), small library, outdoor fitness equipment, and information signs. Toilets: 2 bio-toilets. No showers. Waste management: 11 waste bins (0.75 m³ each), emptied daily, plus separate mixed waste and recycling containers.

Water Quality

Water quality from 2018 to 2024 met excellent quality requirements according to Directive 2006/7/EB standards. No concentrated or dispersed pollution sources were identified in the impact zone. No cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or harmful phytoplankton blooms were detected. Water quality monitoring is updated if the classification changes from excellent to good, satisfactory, or poor.

Risks

Short-term pollution possible during heavy rainfall, which typically resolves within 1-2 days after rainfall ends.
