Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). Identified pollution sources include river mouth, emergency overflow pipes at Tiro a Volo, and port activities. No specific monitoring or mitigation measures are currently activated. The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to prevailing oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strains have occurred.
