Location

Trieste, Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Italy. Centre coordinates: 45.730996°N, 13.681909°E. Area extends approximately 1.32 km along the coast.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as EXCELLENT based on 2015-2018 reference years. Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 10 CFU/100ml, at 95th percentile: 10 CFU/100ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 14 CFU/100ml, at 95th percentile: 22 CFU/100ml. No variations in water quality were observed during bathing seasons 2015-2018. Potential pollution sources include wastewater treatment plants at Servola and Sistiana with submarine outfalls, though impacts are assessed as long-distance potential.

Risks

Cyanobacteria proliferation: no sustained eutrophic phenomena caused by cyanobacteria have been reported. Algal proliferation: no cases of potentially toxic algal strains detected, and no elevated concentrations of potentially toxic species observed.
