Üdersee is a natural elongated glacial lake approximately 50 km north of Berlin in the Schorfheide region, forming the southern edge of the Mecklenburg Lake Plateau. The lake is approximately 4 km long and averages 200 m wide, with a maximum depth of 12.1 m and mean depth of 7.4 m. The lake basin was carved by meltwater during the last ice age and features steep banks that prevent reed formation but support dense underwater vegetation. It receives inflow from the Kleiner Buckowsee and drains via the Besterfließ into the Finokanal.
