Valakupių I is a bathing area on the Neris River in Vilnius, Lithuania. The beach spans approximately 630 meters and features a natural shoreline composed of sand and vegetation. Water depth averages 1.0 meter with a maximum depth of 2.5 meters. The beach is regularly cleaned of vegetation during the season. From 2018 to 2024, water quality has consistently met excellent standards.

One stationary pier, 7 changing cabins, rescue point, first aid equipment, bicycle racks, sun umbrellas, hammocks, drinking water fountain, barbecue areas, picnic tables, picnic tables adapted for disabled persons, small library, outdoor exercise equipment, 3 beach volleyball courts, basketball court, mini football courts, information signs. 5 bio-toilets available. No showers.

Monitoring data provided for years 2012-2025. Annual monitoring is conducted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification has been excellent from 2018 to 2024 according to Directive 2006/7/EB standards. The water body is classified as at-risk due to ecological status being average. Biochemical oxygen demand (BDS7) concentration does not meet good ecological status requirements. Concentrations of hazardous or priority hazardous substances exceeding maximum permitted levels have been detected. No short-term pollution cases have been recorded in the bathing area over the past 5 years.

Risks

Blue-green algae proliferation has not been observed. Temporary pollution is possible during heavy rainfall, typically disappearing within 1 to 2 days after rain ceases. Surface runoff (storm water) discharges from outfalls are potential pollution sources.
