Vellerup Vig is a bathing water area located in a cove off the former campsite, extending along Vigvejen. The water is classified as excellent quality. The beach is 2-3 metres wide with a stony composition and limited grassy areas situated between trees and bushes.

Water

Brackish water with salinity of 1–2 percent. The seabed is rocky closest to shore with soft bottom further out. Current direction follows wind direction.

Location

Vellerup Vig, extending along Vigvejen in the direction of the former campsite. Parking is available approximately 200 metres from the bathing area, with a small number of spaces.

Facilities

No bathing pier. No lifeguard. No toilets. No disabled access facilities. Dogs allowed on leash from April to October; dogs may be loose if under control from October to March.

Season

Monitoring occurs year-round with 5 samples per bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent (classification level 4). Monitoring station 108 conducts 5 samples per bathing season. Possible impact from wastewater during heavy rainfall, with contamination duration lasting up to 3 days depending on rainfall size and current/wind conditions. The catchment area includes a summer house area at Vellerup.

Risks

Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms, occurring rarely during several days of calm, warm weather. Low risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton blooms, though seaweed may occasionally occur.
