Hammer Bakke Strand is a bathing area located next to the Orø ferry in Skibby. It features a large green area with seating facilities and scenic views. Water

Brackish water (1–2% salinity). The seabed is stony near the shore and softer further out. Current direction follows wind direction.

Location

Hammer Bakke, 4050 Skibby, next to the Orø ferry and between the ferry and yacht harbour. Parking available approximately 100 metres from the bathing area.

Facilities

Bathing platform, parking (approximately 100 metres away), toilets, tables and benches, rescue post, stairs to viewpoint from parking area. No lifeguard. No disabled access facilities.

Season

April to October. Winter season October to March.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (grade 4 on a scale of 1–4). Monitoring station 111 with 4 samples per bathing season. Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms, occurring only in rare cases during extended periods of calm, warm weather. Low risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton blooms, though seaweed may occasionally appear. Possible pollution source: wastewater discharge during heavy rainfall, with duration dependent on rainfall intensity and current/wind conditions (up to 3 days after event). Catchment area includes summer house developments.

Low risk of cyanobacteria blooms during prolonged calm, warm weather. Low risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton blooms. Potential wastewater impact during intense rainfall, lasting up to 3 days.
