Location

Located in Genova Quinto, Genova, Liguria, Italy. The area is a residential zone immediately fronting the road and inhabited areas of Genova Quinto.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). Identified pollution sources include the Quinto wastewater treatment plant, active outfall pipe, and river mouth of Rio San Pietro. In July and August 2008, monitoring detected exceedances of alert thresholds for Ostreopsis ovata concentration. Cases of potentially toxic algal strains have occurred.

Risks

Potentially toxic algal strains have been identified. In 2008, Ostreopsis ovata concentrations exceeded alert thresholds during summer months, causing typical signs of stress in the aquatic ecosystem.
