Risks

Sewage discharge from a nearby pipe. During heavy rainfall events, increased water flow from Rio della Pozzacqua (located to the east) may transport pollutants downstream. Ostreopsis ovata microalgae proliferation has occurred in the region; reference station at Bagnara recorded values between 10,000–30,000 cells/litre in July 2022 and 2023, below the 30,000 cells/litre threshold. Inhalation of aerosol from Ostreopsis ovata can cause temporary and reversible respiratory effects and fever in sensitive individuals.
