Visagino lake beach is a public bathing area located in the Utena district of Lithuania, surrounded by forest with sandy shoreline. The beach is 400 meters long with an average water depth of 2 meters and a maximum depth of 3 meters. Water quality has met excellent quality requirements continuously from 2018 to 2024. The beach can accommodate approximately 400 visitors during peak season under favorable weather conditions.

Visagino municipality, Utena district, Lithuania. Monitoring coordinates: X=55.5950, Y=26.4289. Located in the Dauguvos (Dauguva) river basin.

Facilities

Swimming zone, children's bathing area, rescue point with first aid equipment, children's playground, beach volleyball and basketball courts, bicycle and pedestrian paths, toilet, waste management system with 5 containers for mixed waste (1.1 m³ capacity) and 2 containers for recyclables (glass and plastic).

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent quality (2018–2024). Ecological status: Good, meets good ecological potential requirements. Water clarity is monitored. Phosphorus and nitrogen levels were not tested. No studies on cyanobacteria, macroalgae, or marine phytoplankton were conducted.

Risks

Short-term pollution possible after heavy rainfall. Improper visitor behavior can cause temporary pollution. Short-term pollution controlled through public information and temporary swimming prohibition. Shoreline accumulates mud and reed growth, which is regularly removed. Surface rainwater runoff can have impact.
