Brysi B is a sandy beach located in Protaras, Cyprus, comprising one section of a continuous sandy shore that includes Brysi A and Brysi C beaches. The beach is 410 metres long with an average water depth of 1 metre and maximum depth of 3 metres. Three seasonal wooden floating platforms are positioned at the northern, southern, and central sections of the beach to facilitate water activities. The beach is bordered by hotel facilities and tourist infrastructure inland, with no natural vegetation along the shoreline itself.

Water

A Mediterranean coastal bathing water body. The seabed consists of sandy material with occasional rocky formations, particularly in the northern section. Average water depth is 1 metre; maximum depth is 3 metres. The beach length is 410 metres. The water body is part of the Protaras coastal body, which is in good ecological status.

Location

The beach is located in Protaras, in the Famagusta District, within the Municipality of Paralimni, Cyprus. Coordinates: 34.0534°E, 35.0174°N (ETRS89 reference system).

Facilities

Lifeguards with rescue equipment available from 10:00 to 18:00. Toilets available in adjacent areas. Umbrellas and sun loungers offered for hire. Waste collection bins present. Blue Flag designation. Beach cleaning maintained by Paralimni Municipality. Three floating wooden platforms for water sports access.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data. Monitoring under Directive 76/160/EEC has been conducted since Cyprus's EU accession in 2004. Coastal water monitoring from 2004–2007 at nearby station CY_3_M603_7 showed nitrate and chlorophyll-a concentrations below 2 mg/l and 2 μg/l respectively, with no eutrophication detected. Low risk of macroalgal and phytoplankton development has been assessed.

Risks

Low risk of short-term pollution events. Only one recorded short-term pollution incident occurred between 2008 and 2010 (7 July 2009). Potential sources include malfunction of sewage systems in beach developments, high number of swimmers, and passing vessels. The area is within a nitrate-vulnerable zone (Kokkinochoria), but groundwater flow to the sea has decreased following implementation of sewage systems, and coastal water quality is not significantly affected.
