Waldbad Bernhardsthal is a natural bathing water located approximately 500 metres southwest of the town of Neuhaus am Rennweg in a forested area along regional road L 281. The water body covers approximately 5,500 square metres and is fed by several surface-level inflows from the Steinachquelle spring source. The shore area is mostly paved with bitumen and concrete and surrounded by meadows. Official monitoring has revealed no complaints or evidence of pollution, and no bathing bans have been necessary.
