Wolfgangsee is a lake with an area of 13.0 km² located primarily in Salzburg, with portions extending into Upper Austria. The lake is divided into two basins by the alluvial cone of the Zinkenbach stream. Upper water layers warm relatively quickly in summer. The Zinkenbach stream is responsible for reducing water visibility, particularly in the St. Wolfgang section during high water events when mineral suspended solids are carried in.
