Ziatzi is a sandy beach of limited extent located in Agia Napa, Cyprus. The beach is bounded to the east by a small peninsula separating it from the neighbouring Makronissos beach. Low rocky formations of beachrock type are found in the western and eastern sections. The eastern part contains hotel facilities, while the central and western sections remain undeveloped. The beach is within the Natura 2000 SPA zone CY3000005 (Agia Thekli–Liopetri).

Water

Coastal marine water body (Agia Napa, code CY_24-C3) with sandy bottom composition. Beach length is 900 metres. Average water depth is 0.8 metres, maximum depth is 2 metres. Limited seagrass meadows (Posidonia oceanica) develop on the sea bottom at greater depths.

Location

Agia Napa municipality, Famagusta district, Cyprus. The monitoring point is located in the centre of the beach at coordinates 33.9529°E, 34.9823°N (ETRS89).

Facilities

Toilets available in adjacent hotel unit. Umbrellas and sun loungers offered. Waste collection bins present. Beach cleaning maintained by Agia Napa Municipality. Lifeguard service with rescue equipment available from 10:00 to 18:00. Water sports facilities located in the eastern section.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent based on monitoring data since Cyprus's accession to the European Union in 2004. Monitoring from 2004–2007 showed nitrate and chlorophyll-a concentrations below 2 mg/l and 2 μg/l respectively, with no eutrophication detected. The coastal body is in good ecological condition.

Risks

Moderate risk of macroalgae (Cladophora spp) and phytoplankton development based on recorded occurrences in the neighbouring Agia Thekli area and beach morphology. Possible pollution sources include passing and moored recreational vessels and water sports activities. No short-term pollution incidents were recorded during the 2008–2010 bathing seasons.
