Zona Civico 105 is a sandy and pebbly beach in Ceriale, Liguria, delimited by perpendicular groynes. The area is characterized by an urban waterfront with tourist and residential features, backed by agricultural fields. Private beach establishments with services, free beach areas, and food establishments are present along the shore.

Water

Coastal water body (Ceriale-Finale water body). The bathing area covers 1.326 km. The Ligurian Sea is characterized by predominantly oligotrophic conditions.

Location

Ceriale, province of Savona, Liguria. The beach is located in an urban area fronting the town centre. Parking and access information are managed by the Municipality of Ceriale.

Private bathing establishments with facilities, free beach areas, food and restaurant activities, and accommodation structures.

Season

Monitoring programme operates on intensified frequency during the 2025 season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for the 2021–2024 four-year period: Sufficient. Intensified monitoring frequency is in place for the 2025 season due to the Sufficient classification. An emergency discharge pipe located approximately 200 metres northeast of the sampling station discharges offshore. Sewer pipes situated immediately outside the western boundary discharge approximately 0.54 and 1.52 km from the beach.

Risks

The Largo River mouth discharges directly into the bathing water. During adverse weather and upstream flooding conditions, increased river discharge may transport effluent downstream. Ostreopsis ovata microalgal proliferation occurs in the region; reference monitoring at Pietra Ligure recorded values between 10,000–30,000 cells/litre in July 2021, August 2022, and July 2023 and 2024, but did not exceed the 30,000 cells/litre threshold. Ostreopsis ovata can produce temporary and reversible respiratory effects and fever in sensitive individuals through aerosol inhalation.
