Coastal water body (Chiavari - Sestri Levante water body). Rocky terrain with low stability (CWA3 classification). The bathing area extends 0.843 square kilometres.

Location

Lavagna, Genoa Province, Liguria, Italy. The area includes the Lavagna railway station and is served by the main road connecting the municipalities of Lavagna and Sestri Levante. Parking is available.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as Excellent for the period 2008-2011. The Rio Fravega river basin drains into this area. No cyanobacterial blooms occur due to oligotrophic conditions characteristic of the Ligurian Sea. No toxic algal proliferation cases have been recorded in the past four years.

Risks

A river mouth (Rio Fravega foce fluviale) is identified as a source of potential pollution impact on the bathing water. Short-duration pollution events and anomalous situations are currently being evaluated using a developing modelling approach. No coastal wastewater treatment plants, discharge pipes, or Imhoff tanks are present in the area.
