A beach bathing water located 300 metres south of the Potenza River mouth in Porto Recanati, Marche region. The beach consists of fine calcareous gravel with a 3% slope on the emerged beach and 8% slope on the submerged beach. The distance between mean low water and high water (safe waters limit) is 4 metres, with astronomical tidal range of 30–50 centimetres. The surrounding area is characterized by urban settlements.

Porto Recanati, Macerata Province, Marche region. Access is permitted on the beach section (100 metres frontage) at the boundary with the Potenza River mouth. Water Quality

Category C bathing water. Classification: Poor (2015–2018). 2015: E. coli 90th percentile 2122.7 CFU/100 ml, intestinal enterococci 90th percentile 904.2 CFU/100 ml. 2016: E. coli 2679.7 CFU/100 ml, intestinal enterococci 1063.3 CFU/100 ml. 2017: E. coli 1336.2 CFU/100 ml, intestinal enterococci 655.1 CFU/100 ml. 2018: E. coli 662.0 CFU/100 ml, intestinal enterococci 306.0 CFU/100 ml.

Risks

Urban wastewater discharges. Two sewage pumping stations with overflow discharge to Potenza River. Two flood relief sluices with overflow discharge to Potenza River. One urban wastewater treatment plant with discharge to Potenza River. Activation of relief and pumping station discharges during short-duration pollution events. Street surface runoff waters from urban drainage networks. No cyanobacterial bloom detected during sampling period. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species blooms reported in the last four years.
