A beach located 400 metres north of the Potenza River in Porto Recanati, Marche region. The beach features fine calcareous gravel with a 3% slope on the exposed area and 8% on the submerged area. The distance between mean low water and high water is 4 metres, with astronomical tides of 30–50 centimetres. The surrounding area consists of urban settlements and tourist infrastructure.

Coastal marine water body designated Porto Recanati_Civitanova. Beach width is 40 metres. The beach has fine calcareous gravel with a mean slope of 3% on the exposed beach and 8% on the submerged beach.

Location

Porto Recanati, Marche region, Italy. The beach is 400 metres north of the Potenza River. The competent authority is located at Corso Matteotti 230, Porto Recanati, with a beach delegation office at Via 29 Marzo.

Facilities

Bathing facilities with food and beverage services are present. Animal access is not permitted according to Municipal Regulation D.C.C. No. 42/2018.

Water Quality

Category C bathing water. Water quality classification: Poor in 2015 and 2016; Sufficient in 2017 and 2018. 2015 monitoring showed 90th percentile E. coli at 392.7 CFU/100 ml and intestinal enterococci at 201.4 CFU/100 ml. 2016 results: E. coli 481.8, enterococci 235.6. 2017 results: E. coli 339.2, enterococci 182.7. 2018 results: E. coli 271.3, enterococci 148.0. Primary pollution sources identified include urban wastewater from the Potenza River mouth and overflow discharges from combined sewers.

Risks

Urban wastewater and river mouth discharge. Overflow discharges from two sewage pumping stations and two flood relief overflow structures discharge into the Potenza River during heavy rainfall events. Street runoff discharge identified as a pollution source. No cyanobacterial blooms recorded during sampling period. No macroalgal, phytoplankton, or toxic species blooms reported in the past four years.
