A sandy beach located 400 metres north of the Arielli River mouth in Ortona, Abruzzo. The beach is approximately 150 metres wide and experiences significant coastal erosion that has altered the shoreline. The bathing water is classified as sufficient. The area is used for swimming and includes bathing establishments.

Water Quality

Classification: Sufficient. Water quality is monitored monthly through self-control analysis of inlet and outlet water from the Arielli treatment plant. The Arielli wastewater treatment facility uses a process including screening, sand removal, oxidation, secondary sedimentation, sludge stabilisation, and final disinfection with peracetic acid. No cyanobacterial blooms have been recorded. Occasional dinoflagellate blooms with scarce or absent toxic species have been detected in past years.
