Sandy beach with over 99% sand composition and medium granulometry located in Silvi Marina, Abruzzo. The beach has an almost flat gradient of approximately 4–5% with no dune formation. The area is surrounded by urban settlements and tourist infrastructure directly connected to summer bathing activities. The beach section designated as ARENILE SUD extends for 3,200 metres and contains 34 beach concessions.

Water

Coastal marine water body categorised as coastal waters with medium stability characteristics. Average beach width is approximately 70 metres.

Location

Silvi Marina, Abruzzo, Italy (province of Teramo). The bathing area is part of a 7-kilometre coastal stretch along the entire Silvi Marina settlement. The ARTA monitoring point 52 is located within the southern beach section (ARENILE SUD).

First aid assistance services available at all beach facilities. Public toilets and shower facilities present. Multiple food and beverage establishments. Sports facilities including beach volleyball courts. Safety signage in compliance with bathing and navigation safety regulations. Boat launching concessions with boat rental services.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT. Routine monitoring is conducted periodically by ARTA. River mouth areas have been identified as a source of short-term pollution impacts, currently undergoing study for appropriate modelling approaches.

Risks

River mouth areas identified as pollution sources. Cyanobacteria blooms have not been observed in the waters off the Abruzzo coast. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic algae proliferation events recorded. Sparse algal blooms occur in summer months; some dinoflagellate blooms observed in past years with minimal or no toxic species present. No anomalous events have occurred.
