A sandy-pebbly beach located 1.5 km south of the Torrente San Giorgio in Guardavalle, Calabria. The beach features an articulated coastal geomorphology with a mean seafloor gradient of 1.1% from the waterline to the 5-meter isobath. Sediment grain size ranges from 0.13 to 2 mm. The water is classified as excellent quality and is situated in an agricultural area between the Vallone Borgorosso and Vallone dell'Olmo drainage basins.

Coastal water body. Beach area covers 1,513 hectares. Sandy-pebbly beach with mean seafloor gradient of 1.1% from the waterline to the 5-meter isobath. Sediment grain size ranges from 0.13 to 2 mm.

Location

Guardavalle, Catanzaro Province, Calabria, Italy. The bathing water is located 1.5 km south of the Torrente San Giorgio watercourse, in an area adjacent to agricultural lands and the town centre of Guardavalle.

Water quality classification: Excellent. No specific active measures are currently in place.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events occur from runoff from agricultural areas via the Vallone Borgorosso and Vallone dell'Olmo. No cyanobacterial proliferation events have been recorded in the past four years. No macroalgal, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation events have been recorded.
