This is a sandy-pebbly beach located 3 km south of Torrente San Giorgio in Guardavalle, Calabria. The coastline is articulated with a seabed slope of 1.1% from the shoreline to the 5-metre isobath. Beach sediments range from 0.13 to 2 mm in grain size. The area faces the town of Guardavalle and is classified as excellent quality.

Coastal water body with a sandy-pebbly beach. Seabed slope of 1.1% from shoreline to 5-metre isobath. Beach sediment granulometry ranges from 0.13 to 2 mm. Area extension is 1.418 km².

Location

Located in Guardavalle, Calabria, in the Catanzaro Province, 3 km south of Torrente San Giorgio. The bathing water body is within the Riace - Santa Caterina dello Jonio water body.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. No specific measures are currently in place for pollution control.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events caused by run-off from urban areas at the mouth of Fosso Porrazzoso. No cyanobacteria proliferation or macroalgae/phytoplankton proliferation events have been recorded in the past 4 years.
