The bathing water is not subject to negative influences affecting its microbiological quality, and pollution episodes are not expected.

Season

June 1 to September 30, 2025. Sampling frequency: monthly.

Water Quality

Water quality classification in 2024 complies with Decreto-Lei nº 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei nº 113/2012). No days of bathing prohibition or advice against bathing due to short-term pollution events occurred in the 2024 bathing season. Water is not subject to negative influences affecting microbiological quality. In 2024, as a precaution, bathing was temporarily prohibited due to works.

Risks

Cyanobacteria have likely proliferation potential. Macroalgae have unlikely proliferation potential. Phytoplankton has likely proliferation potential. A visual inspection and laboratory chlorophyll-a monitoring alert system has been implemented, with communication to the Alentejo Regional Health Delegate. Short-term pollution events (less than 72 hours) are assessed as unlikely or low risk.
