Water Quality

Water quality classification in 2024 complies with Decreto-Lei nº 135/09. The bathing water is not subject to any negative influence affecting its microbiological quality. No pollution episodes are expected. No days of bathing being advised against or prohibited due to short-term pollution events occurred during the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Cyanobacterial blooms have potential for proliferation. An alert system with visual inspection in situ and laboratory monitoring of chlorophyll-a has been adopted, with communication to the Alentejo Regional Health Delegate. Phytoplankton has likely potential for proliferation. Macroalgae have unlikely potential for proliferation.
