June 7 to September 14, 2025. Monthly sampling frequency.

Water Quality

Water quality classification established for 2024 under Decreto-Lei nº 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei nº 113/2012). The bathing water is not subject to any negative influence affecting its microbiological quality. No pollution episodes are expected. No days of bathing prohibition or advisory occurred in 2024 due to short-term pollution events.

Risks

Potential for cyanobacterial bloom proliferation exists. Visual in situ inspection and laboratory chlorophyll-a monitoring are conducted, with communication to the Alentejo Regional Health Delegate. Phytoplankton proliferation potential is likely. Macroalgae proliferation is unlikely.
