Almargem is a coastal bathing water located on a beach with restricted use associated with sensitive natural systems. It features a wide golden sand beach extending 720 metres, situated near the mouth of Almargem brook where a calm lagoon forms, attracting waterfowl. The beach has a tidal range of 3.4 metres and mean wave height of 0.5 metres, with predominant winds from the east-southeast.
