Alveser See is an inland water body located between Eitzendorf and Alvesen in the Grafschaft Hoya municipality. It is a former arm of the Weser River that extends approximately 3 kilometers in a north-south direction. The lake has a maximum width of 180 meters and covers an area of about 14 hectares. The Blender Emte stream flows out from the northern end.

EU classification: Excellent quality (percentile assessment according to Directive 2006/7/EC). No relevant discharges or uses in the immediate vicinity that could cause hygienic impairment. Pollution potential is assessed as low. No mass occurrence of macroalgae or phytoplankton has been observed in recent years; potential for mass proliferation is assessed as low.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) mass development occurs in late summer at the end of the bathing season. Potential for mass proliferation is assessed as moderate.
