Municipality of Alandroal. Monitoring point coordinates: Longitude -7.521276°, Latitude 38.21361° (ETRS89 coordinate system).

Season

June 1 to September 14, 2025.

Water Quality

Water quality classification established for 2024 according to Decreto-Lei 135/09. The bathing water is not subject to any negative influence affecting its microbiological quality, and no pollution episodes are expected. No days of bathing prohibition or advisory in 2024 due to short-term pollution. Monthly sampling frequency is conducted.

Risks

Cyanobacterial blooms have proliferative potential at this site. A visual inspection and laboratory monitoring system for chlorophyll-a has been implemented with communication to the Alentejo Regional Health Delegate. Macroalgae proliferation is unlikely, while phytoplankton proliferation is likely.
