Armyropigado is a linear sandy beach located within a bay on the island of Cyprus. The beach has an average width of approximately 34 meters and is equipped with artificial cross-arms at the centre and southeastern end. The beach is enclosed by embankments and accessible via designated pathways. Umbrellas, sunbeds, and waste bins are available. The surrounding area includes agricultural plots and hotel facilities.

Water

Sandy substrate with sparse rock presence, mainly near the two arms and the northwestern edge. Beach length: 60 meters. Average water depth: 2 meters. Maximum water depth: 3.5 meters. The water body is named Protaras (code CY22-C3). The area belongs to hydrological basin 7, with mean annual rainfall of 350 mm.

Location

The beach is located in the Famagusta District, within the municipality of Paralimni. Coordinates: 34.007364E, 35.061342N (WGS84/GPS). Parking is available upstream of the beach, where small private catering facilities are situated.

Facilities

Umbrellas and sunbeds are available. Waste bins are provided. Currently, there are no public facilities such as changing rooms, toilets, or lifeguard services. Public beach management is provided by the Municipality of Paralimni. Infrastructure development is included in the beach plan but not yet implemented.

Water Quality

Water quality is not monitored at this location. The beach is within a nitrate-vulnerable zone according to environmental department data. Neighbouring monitored bathing areas are classified as having exceptional water quality. No short-term pollution incidents have been recorded.

Risks

Potential wastewater discharge from irrigated agricultural areas and hotel units located approximately 70 meters from the beach. A water channel on the southwestern side carries wastewater directly into the marine area. Moderate risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton eutrophication. Small risk of short-term pollution from wastewater inflow via the channel and passing vessels.
